looks awesome... so what were the temps like? how much water did you have to carry?

Was still tween 30-35 Wayno, especially on the exposed ridges, I carried a 1.25 lt & just used/refilled that. Had an emergency 2lt bladder tucked away in pack just in case, but didn't need to use it as water tanks were strategically placed and was water loading start and end of day.

Don't think my marriage would survive if we did that trip, the wife has never forgiven me for a trip we did about 30years ago in temperatures like that and above..... talk about elephants having a memory

Hey Davo1 do like the blokes over in the find walking companions/arrange transport folder, they are heading off at the right time! Will be beautiful out there june... ish. The missus will luv ya

Ditto to Jason68 - I did the Larapinta Trail last year with my partner Craig. We went in July/August. temperates ranged from -3 overnight, to no more than 28 during the day but mostly averaged about 15-22 degrees each day. Beautiful walking temperatures and truly one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. We took 19 days. The food drop sheds mean you don't have to carry more than 5-7 days food at any one time. And the water tanks are really well placed. It's a really well marked, well graded track. Just perfect in every way. Even if your wife doesn't want to do the whole thing you can split the track and just do half. NT Tourism could employ me to - I just think the Larapinta Trail is brilliant!

Man its a great walk. I did it in aug/sep of 2010 and it blew my socks off. She was warming up but not impossible hot and I had the track mostly to myself and could just wonder at the geology and timeless beauty of the area. And so easy to org when your in Alice.
anyone interested in doing it should.

Whenever I've been up the Centre at this time of the year the weather's been consistent: mostly dry with one big storm somewhere between the Flinders Ranges and Katherine, sunny, high twenties, with an icy cold wind most of the day. Not my favourite walking conditions. But bearable when you're somewhere like that.
