Thanks Chris. Not a bad buy for $70.00. Apparently it's a copy of an old Macpac design that several others I know have had for years- but paid many hundreds$$ for.
Cheers,

Greg

Hi,

Got around to loading a photo of tarp set up.

Zpacks Cuben 2.6 x 3m
S2s Nano dble net sewn to a tyvek sheet.
Loops on roof of tarp to hang net structure.
Ti pegs, that light thin rope stuff.
Around 750 g not including hiking poles.

Works well.

My One Planet Goondie 2 on the Larapinta trail. Thought I'd sleep with the fly off, and you guessed it, a shower came over in the middle of the night so I had to get out and put it on.

Overnight set up on Main Range Walk this April. Minus 4 degrees but calm night.
Stayed in my Exped Sirius and Mont Bindabella sleeping bag.

Fantastic thread to look through in times likes these. I shall look through my pics and aim to contribute. My photography skills are lacking though.

main range 10jan2010 368copy_1024.jpg
Main Range Qld toward Mt.Castle of the Little Liverpool Range

We often do away with tents and hammocks. Just not that necessary for our climate.
This was just an overnight bivvy after ascending from the east (right) the ridge between here and Mt.Castle. To the pinnacle on the right called Boars Head.
On our way to Cunninghams Gap further south along Main Range.
We usually do this route as a daywalk (8hrs).

Geez, tents are getting lighter all the time. Fabrics are getting more sheer but that tent in the foreground must be the lightest and most sheer fabric i have ever seen. It might as well not be there at all.

Just a selection of some fun campsites over the years.

Little Feathertop - everyone bought their Wilderness Equipment First / Second Arrow tents. Great spot after a day of snowshoeing.
MacFarlane saddle on a frosty winter's day after the snow melted , in the totally erroneously named Brookes Range "Quick Tent", a very light and constricted asymmetrical fly which was not a tent nor quick to put up. False advertising. Supposedly sleeps two, you and a tripod ? Only takes a trailer load of pegs to hold down. Reasonably wind resistant and rain resistant if pitched properly.
Middle Lake (Central Plateau) - underwhelming weather, brilliant sunset / sunrise, frost on the ground. What else do you expect in summer ? Good idea to bring the ultralight Western Mountaineering sleeping bag (not). Glad I had the thermals.
Paddy's Knob - Just a great grassy spot, with limited views.
Lake Artemis (Tas) - great compact campsite with frigid lake and fantastic sunsets, on the way across the Traveller Range.
