Wish I'd read that before the weekend. Although I did manage to climb up both left and right, as well as crawling through the hole, just to see if I could fit . . .

I did Wallhalla to Hotham solo in 2005 - before fires affected the Victorian section of the AAWT, so I was lucky. Planned 18 days, took 17 days, could have done it a day or so faster probably, but I had never carried 18 days food before so wasn't sure whether I would want to do huge days or not.

Just regarding the chute/chimney/whatever getting on to the Viking, if you walk up to the bottom of the chimney and then head right (facing the rock) for about 100 metres, you can just walk up a vegetated ridge/face to the rocky tops.
