Siberia Hut burnt down

Anyone contemplating the wilkins young track, should keep this in mind.

I was just here 4 months ago, so its abit sad to see it burnt down like that.

I bet it was one of those MSR stoves. They must have pumped the petrol a few too many times.
What a shame.

A shame as it was a great hut -mainly the site is the reason I say that.When I did the circuit in Nov 2010 we spent 3 mights in tents and then finished in the hut for the last night.
Only good thing (although a pain for DOCS and NZ taxpayers)is that they will eventually build a new hut!!
As anyone who walks over there knows the standard of NZ huts is fantastic -the modern ones are almost a little too good :D
