One challenge you will have is river crossings. NZ rivers are big and dangerous especially in November.

l suggest sticking to traoks with bridges.

The Great walks generally have bridges but some are removed over winter to avoid avelanche damage and may not be back yet.

If you use the specialist hikers' bus services, they will probably store gear for you. I've also left gear at accomodation - typically youth hostels.

tracknet (a hiker bus service operating around queenstown/te anau) even delivered some of my gear for me. They picked me up at the end of the Routeburn, took me straight to the Hollyford and took some excess gear with them to store at their office in Te Anau (or maybe it was a hostel in Te Anau and they dropped it their for me - I can't remember). Still it was very nice of them.

Thanks for all the input guys!
Appreciate it

Just got back from doing Abel Tasman walk. Was absolutely beautiful even though it rained half the time.
Now in Nelson trying to work out logistics of doing Heaphy track and Travers Sabine. As it's still winter time not many buses go those ways.

there's currently avalanche danger in nelson lakes
discuss your trip intentions with DOC before entering the park and finalising your trip details
