Hey,

I'm wanting to go hiking this year in NZ, specifically the Dusky Track.

My rough itinerary is:
6/12/2014 - Fly to Queenstown
7/12/2014 - Get supplies
8/12/2014 - Travel day - to start of hike
9/12/2014 - Lake Hauroko to Halfway Hut (4 - 6 hrs)
10/12/2014 - Halfway Hut to Lake Roe Hut (3 - 5 hrs)
11/12/2014 - Lake Roe Hut to Loch Maree Hut (5 - 7 hrs)
12/12/2014 - Loch Maree Hut to Supper Cove Hut (6 - 8 hrs)
13/12/2014 - Supper Cove Hut to Supper Cove Hut (-)
14/12/2014 - Supper Cove Hut to Loch Maree Hut (6 - 8 hrs)
15/12/2014 - Loch Maree Hut to Kintail Hut (6 - 8 hrs)
16/12/2014 - Kintail Hut to Upper Spey Hut (5 - 7 hrs)
17/12/2014 - Upper Spey Hut to West Arm Hut (4 - 5 hrs)
18/12/2014 - West Arm Hut
19/12/2014 - Travel day - to Queenstown

Transport might be expensive, but it should be comparable to a hike in Tasmania for flights and buses. That is, from Brisbane. The huts are on the order of $5-20 per night. Maybe a little bit more but it should be in that order of magnitude

Some info can be found at:

I know its a long way away, but I will be booking flights in a month or so and I'm keen to have some other committed people, who are good company and enjoy hiking along with me. Please give me a shout if your interested.

dont fix your itinerary on the track, if theres heavy rain you'll get stuck unable to move with flooded rivers cutting you off in various places. if its good weather think of doing a long day and sit out the bad weather days. december can still be pretty bad for weather.... i dont even think about heading down there till late jan
