Well, it's a long way off, but I'm forced to attend wife's insurance convention in Vegas next February, so I'm going shopping bigtime.

A cuben backpack, way too much to choose from, still thinking. Ideas please.
New sleeping pad[s]
A decent quality quilt, I'm a convert.
Complete o/haul clothing and shoes.
Another size Trail designs Ti Tri stove and possibly MSR XGK-EX, curious about it.
A complete camera system.
Possibly a Hammock setup.
A KLIM Motorcycle jacket, and parts for bike.
And untold "bits and pieces"

Yes the aussie dollar isn't good, but I've made a vow of extreme financial chastity between now and then, will save billions on postage/insurance, and I can have some of the stuff ordered and delivered ahead to the Hotel Bellagio [ irony-UL Gear for traipsing around the outback delivered to swanky Vegas hotel, I may set it all up on some lawn ]

So, what have I missed?, because it's been made clear this wont happen again in my life time......

Maybe his wife can import some stuff as well? Gives you $2000 aud.
Last time I took an empty duffel bag to the US and filled it up, didn't even realize it was over $1000 aud (goes very fast with the current exchange rate) but had no issues.

I figure it's going to be quite a few thousand dollars for all this, but I'll be doing my best to make sure it's all "second hand" when I come back.
One mate suggested mailing all the tags/receipts/packaging stuff back separately, seems plausible, either way nothing will be in a new box or similar.

I'm pretty sure this will be the last chance to do this as all foreseeable trips don't include USA, according to the wife!, so I'm going to do a tonne of research before I start buying, aiming for quality purchasing rather than my previous habit of buying "cheap" and ultimately regretting it.

Be careful with the items that are cottage manufactured like the Cuben pack, the Quilt, the shelter and the hammock!

Few of these items are carried in stock so there is a variable lead time and unless you order carefully, your parcel can arrive after you have left the country. Even small delays for stocked items can cause mayhem.

Quilt: Some variety of EE Revelation.
Mat: If you buy Exped you may find the local pricing to be not much different if at all.
