Help finding a mens pattern and design input requested

Thu 23 Feb, 2012 12:12 pm

I can't seem to find a suitable pattern.
I have some heavy duty EPIC here and I want to make a pair of softshell pants and I'm looking for a mens pattern similar to the Green Pepper Womens "SUGARPINE" warm-up pants and I am having no luck.

I would like to do this once only and I want t get it right the first time.
The EPIC I have is the older non-stretch type, which is much more robust and wear resistant.
What I envisage is actually very similar to the new stuff the US Army is using and is recommended by Andy Kirkpatrick.
Will I need to use a drop liner to maximise the breathability of the fabric?
For the last decade I have been using microfibre tracky pants with a polyester mesh drop liner ( Nikwax treated ) and the performance has been very good and most times I have been adequately warm even in a strong wind.
I want these to be better

So I just laid out my fabric and I have plenty to make a jacket or pants but not enough to make both.
Going by previous comments made on his forum I am thinking I should order some more fabric and get the stretch EPIC while it is available and use stretch fabric for the trousers.

Any ideas on whether or not I should line stretch pants with polyester mesh or not?? and which weight of mesh if I do line them??
