Using double sided tape in projects

Having moved on from quilts and packrafting packs, this weekend I spent some time making dry bags and a dry bag/packraft inflation bag. A few years ago I bought some sail-maker's double sided tape. You can get it for nylon, or silinylon. Can't remember where I got it, but the silicon nylon one was significantly more expensive.

I hadn't used it much until today, but it opens up a whole lot of benefits - eg "no sew" seams - for joining silinylon panels in tarps, side seams on dry bags etc; making your own tape for sealing seams; seamless fold overs for the ends of drawer cord channels, edging tarps etc.

Made a couple of roll top dry bags, and another roll top dry bag for my packrafting pack which also works as an inflation bag for my packraft.

Amazingly, I haven't run into any threads about using this double sided tape, but it might be useful for some of you DIY .

Hi Andrew A , Sounds like a great way to make simple silnylon projects.
Do you know the brand name of the tape, is there a name on the inside of the roll.

No, there isn't name on it. I recall now that I got it from a sail maker when I was getting some lightweight sailcloth for a tarp. I think it's made by 3M.

Ship chandlers would be a good place to start hunting down the tape. I think kite makers use something very similar (if not the same) for building and repairing kites. Might be worth a google
