Ground sheet

Postby alanm » Sat 29 Jun, 2019 5:19 pm

All,

I have a Wilderness Equipment First Arrow, I've had 3 over a 38 year period, sadly, the floors are not as good as the 1st one was. So, I need a ground sheet because fixing leaks in the floor is becoming tiresome. Now, in all fairness, Ian has told me to return it and they'll fit a new floor if he deems it necessary, however, he also admits they can't get the older materials anymore, something about "environmentally friendly" some of the manufactures of these raw materials ought to head off to some of the "lesser developed" counties for a reality check occasionally!

Anyway, I have a ~17M roll of 500 denier Cordura, can't remember if it's coated but would imagine it is, laying around in the house, along with too many packs, bicycles, boots, tents etc, as one does after 4 decades of collecting gear!

Said roll is 1550 wide, the perfect width for said First Arrow, so I'm wondering how would the Cordura go as a ground sheet? Don't even bother mentioning the weight, I don't care about it, particularly if it saves both my tent and sanity from holes.

TIA Al.

I'd think just a little heavy so I did just mention the weight. I would be interested in a couple of metres of that Cordura if it's less than 10 YO tho

Guys,

Sorry, I'm very reluctant to let any of it go. I paid a small fortune and had to do some fast talking in order to get it. I then had to pay an arm and a leg for postage as it was on the bolt roll. I bought it for a particular project. It's why I haven't chopped a bit off willy nilly to try, which would be my normal Modus Operandi!

However, having said that, I shall keep the pair of you in mind if I don't use all of it.

Al.

PS. Ted, it's well and truly less than 10 YO.

All, I've found a solution in an old poly billboard ad I had lying around. It weighs in at 2.5Kg for the inner and vestibule but is as strong as.... Happy Happy.
