Soda Can stove help

Postby taipan821 » Fri 05 Aug, 2016 12:15 pm

Hello All

I'm attempting to make a soda can stove using two soft drink cans. I am aware that I need to spread out one half of the stove to slide over the second half.

I've tried using a unopened can as a dilator, but the stove part either doesn't spread, or tears.
Does anyone have a solution?, thanks

Are you using some lubricant such as WD40 or Vaseline on the unopened can? Also, how have you cut your can down? If you use a blade and score the side, you get a cleaner edge than if you cut with scissors.
If there is a corner left if cutting with scissors it will be a weak point and likely tear down from that point. Make sure it is a smooth edge all the way around.

This stove can be made even more simply, without the need to stretch the bottom section
