Hi all, this post is for a project that I actually finished early last year but have never gotten around to posting about. It's a down hammock underquilt that's 3/4 length and I call it the 'Redback' underquilt for obvious reasons once you see the photos. The length is approx 137cm (54") and the width is 115cm (45") and there is a differential cut between the inner and outer shells. I also sewed darts in each end to give it more of a cupped shape to conform to the hammock (not really sure if this makes much difference but it looks nice).
In reality it covers me (177cm) from shoulders to mid calf or even almost ankle, so just need a small foot pad for colder conditions. The width seems more than adequate to allow a bit of shifting around.
The black fabric is Nobul2 and the red stripe is Argon 90. I was initially going to just do it in black but I didn't have quite enough of that fabric left at the time so I decided to add the red stripe, which I think was much for the better in the end as it gives the underquilt a distinctive look. It has 280g of 800 fill down so it should be quite warm and somewhat comparable to a Hammock Gear 20f 3/4 underquilt. I'm only an occasional hanger so it's only been tested down to around 5C, where it was still toasty warm.
Unfortunately the photos I had with someone in the hammock have been lost, nonetheless here are some photos of the quilt:
