Idea regarding ALDi bag

A thought
Perhaps a mad thought. using the cheap Ultralite ALDI sleeping bag as fabric donor.
Unpicking a side seam. Top stitching though the two layers and stuffing the resulting tubes with a tiny amount of down

This is of course for a UL half bag for winter use for part of the "emergency kit"
A decent half bag from Cumulus would be 709 Zloti and a lightweight halfbag from PHD is about 190 quid and I don't really need anything that warm for this purpose.
Cutting off the top third of the bag and removing the zipper has reduced the weight to 400 grams [ including the compression sack] so I'm thinking 50 grams of down would do the job
There is of course the problem of down getting stuck in the polyester insulation blanket [ which looks to be about 40GSM stuff] but perhaps that will stop down migration

Md are you able to post a photo? Im unfamiliar with a half bag. Wouldnt your top half be cold?

You use a duvet jacket/belay jacket for the top half.
I have a warm half bag [ and I've sold on an even warmer unit] but this is "just-in-case"

I have a "Tamarack" but with 8 ounces of down and 55mm of insulation it is simply too warm

As a booster for my Ultra I can get down well below -30C but at -18C I was sweating and had to stop using it

PD I've always [ well almost always] used a half bag plus jacket for climbing and while sleeping bags are warmer they are not as versatile. I think it was the extra weight of the system that Vs a single sleeping bag that stopped people using it. Also most sleeping bag makers went to very skinny bags to save weight and for the quick warm-up due to minimum volume. My Ultra is definitely not a minimum volume bag, even my cheap Thinsulate summer bag is big enough in the foot area to take the ALDI one inside up to the waist
