Dyneema fabric adhesive tape

Postby ofuros » Mon 14 Oct, 2019 10:29 am

Australia wide, does anybody know where I can buy a roll of double sided adhesive tape to suit Dyneema/Cuben fabric. 12mm/half inch tape width. I'm in a DIY mood again.

I know it's available from the USA but the postage is going to kill me for a single roll( unless I add more goodies to the order  ). But if there's no choice, I'll have to bite the bullet. Cheers.

I think I have a sole 25mm stuff in my box of bits.

How much do you need?

I'm waiting on the 5mm 3D mesh on ripstop by the roll the become available again. Perhaps at some point it might be a good idea to try and organise a group buy.

Thanks for the offer Bubbalouie, but I'm after a whole roll(55m) of 12mm.
I've got a little left over from previous projects but not enough for the next...

Cheaper alternatives to 3M 9460, 9442 ?

Yikes, 50m is way more than I've got. For that I assume you're making a tent.

Good luck!

Tried Extremtextil? Their post on some stuff I was looking at was less than US post.
Shhh Bubbalouie -I reckon Offy is on a rucksack and tent combo.

Hey Bubba were you planning on the 5mm spacer mesh for a rucksack shoulder strap or waist belt?
If so, wouldn't 3mm do? That's pretty standard.

A hip belt for now. I'd be happy to use 3mm on shoulder straps, but the hip belt I'd like a bit more padding on (I don't have much of my own I'm afraid). I've considered just using 2 layers of 3mm, for some reason (likely irrational) I'd prefer to just use something that "just right" front he get go.

I've never made a hip belt before though so I'm sort of assuming that 6mm is what I want based on some other packs.

For future reference, tread lite gear in the UK sell it for £11.99 plus postage (probably £4).

Thanks for the info, Petew.
Just a shame we have to buy offshore to get these goodies.

I'm pretty sure, when Tiergear was just finding it's legs, Simon sourced an alternative right here in Australia...I might drop him a message, just out of curiosity.

Simon sold Venture tape. It worked v well. My rolls don’t have any other identifying feature than the brand on them.

Did you ask Their Gear about what type of Venture tape they used? Just curious.

For some technical info on the 3M tapes https://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/dcf-seam-strength-test/page/2/. The 350 series seem the best.
