More Lost "experienced" Walkers

Postby ULWalkingPhil » Mon 01 Aug, 2011 9:00 pm

Another 7 hikers lost up my way yesterday, they left for a short half day hike but failed to return, took rescuers a whole day to find them.

Five adults and two children, were located by air on a mountain ridge about 9am today.

Emergency services were unable to reach them due to the rough terrain.

The hikers were directed to a clearing south of the mountain where they were met by paramedics who gave them the all clear.

“They were then escorted on foot to base camp and they were all safe and accounted for shortly before 11am,”

The ironic thing about this, is That I was asked last week if I could lead this group on this hike. I know them all personally, and there all experienced bushwalkers, usually are very prepared. so I don't know what's going on. I had prior commitments I could not get out off, so I did not lead the group. I only just found out now, that they all got lost.

I guess they now have one more 'experience' to draw from.
