Thanks Hiking Noob...I've got itches on itches now, a few leeches attached themselves & sucked away under my socks during yesterday's watery adventure.

Our farm, dam wall, wattle tree, fell over a few weeks ago. Retrieving it today for firewood.
This was found in a top branch. Most likely a fairy wren, judging by the eggs and the nest - plenty of them around the dam. Very small eggs!
Other guesses (eg thornbills, weebills) have different nest shapes and/or egg colours.

Yes it's a Koala. Sorry, I should have been a little clearer on what it was.

Spotted this guy just sitting in the bush. We slowly approached but it didn't move. Mum on the other hand took off at a rate of knots from a tree just behind this young one. We didn't even notice mum until she took flight and disappeared very quickly. Suspect it may be a baby Powerful Owl but hard to tell as it's chest feathers were still downy in appearance.

Five types of flies.

Camping out between walks so plenty of down time...

Bush fly, mostly black, hangs about in groups and gets in your face. Just looking for some sweat or moisture, not really interested in your food. Goes places on your back or pack!

Next size up, a tinge of brown/bronze/oil, wants to get onto your food, sometimes travels solo.

Marsh fly, slow and deliberate, looking to bite.

Blow fly, stout for its' length, buzzes in and out.

Big bopper, a solitary fly, the most interesting. Seems to be alone, maybe 2cm long or bigger. Droning buzz just checking things out, not particularly interested in the human. Quite plump like a solitary bee but larger.

I've never heard of them before but looking on Google it seems right. Was about the size of an open hand. I'm not sure if it was alive or dead. When touched it shrank away in that spot. All up, kind of gross.

An off track walk in Main Range NP Queensland two weeks ago. Fires are out now. They didn't penetrate far into rain forested areas on the southern sides of the peaks but they did run along parts of the crest of the range. Apart from the almost obligatory carpet snake, we saw a yellow tailed Black Cockatoo and three feral deer. None of which we managed in time to get a photo of.
Ever on the search for a one ended stick.

LOL, reminded me of an incident Roger about 6 years ago in KNP. I was walking ahead of my son towards Teddy's Hut, fortunately wearing long pants and knee length gaiters.
A few hundred metres from the hut I heard some expletives behind me and turned to see this Highland/Mountain Copperhead shooting off into the grass next to my right leg.
Son told me it had suddenly reared up into a striking position as I obliviously wandered past. Close call!
Apparently he wasn't too upset at our presence and hung around long enough for a couple of photos (from a respectful distance).

Roger, I think that was only because I embedded your post in quotes. I'm not sure how the software treats images in that case, it may depend on the method of submission.
I could see the image all along in your original post.
KNP obviously has a healthy population of Copperheads, although who knows what impact after the fires.
