Stoked it's Spring!

Mon 02 Sep, 2019 8:01 pm

Ahh some places are warming up!
It will be a hot hot summer.

Where are you going to go?

What gear are you switching to?

Going to dig the kayak out. I don't like walking in summer, except to get to a canyon.

I'm very saddened that winter is over. It means more sweat, snakes and less stars at night....

 same. More heat, more flies, snakes, spiders, more hazard reduction smoke and greater bushfire risk. And the body usually needs more of increasingly hard to find water.

Id prefer winter all year round :P

I'm with you, Neo. Though in Tassie especially, it's just the calendar that says it rather than the reality just yet. But the promise is there!

More mountains accessible to a plodder like me - less ice-encrusted summit boulders, fewer rivers that can't safely be crossed, more daylight hours, more options to walk in somewhere after work, more roads open, more feeling in my hands and feet. Yippeeeee! :D

Yes im not looking forward to summer RE bushwalking!
That's where the 'tassie in summer' dream might pay off.
Probably can't justify a UL canoe this year. (read save enough for)...

I am also glad spring has arrived. It has felt like the longest and worst winter I can remember.

I expect many bushwalkers suffer from seasonal affective disorder.

Can’t wait to get out there!

This might work if anyone is interested to try a half sleeping bag and jacket combo.
Hefty at 1.4kg but at 1.7m long it could be trimmed down by a third to 1.2 or 1.3m long.

Maybe there is a higher temp model also which would be lighter to start with:
