Donkey Mountain is a bit of a mecca if your up that way, you'll need to carry water but.

You can drive to within 200m of Galah Mountain so not much of a walk!

Things to do in that part of the world:
- River Caves Canyon
- explore Deep Pass
- Mt Cameron (overgrown fire trail)
- there are various other tracks, which mostly lead to or from canyons, but can be walked to interesting spots - see http://ozultimate.com/canyoning/maps/so ... ons_a3.pdf for some of them

Hi Tom!

I realise that now!

Have walked a bit of Rocky & deep pass before.

Picked up a topo so will browse some options, maybe just a day walk or two.

Did a little walk yesterday. Parked opposite the old Ben Bullen Railway Station. Picked up the Hidden Trail at the first sign then went off track to meet up with the 4wd track and junction. Headed to Moffitts Pagodas. Had a snack to the north then spent an hour exploring the rocks. Came back a bit along the trail and down a spur. Can only see 50m down low but pretty easy nav, a total walk of 9km.

Nice to see. Bailed on a half planned overnight traverse of the Baal Bone cliff line, another time...

Couldn't figure out this obvious feature. Viewed from near Moffitts, the cliff is headed to Baal Bone Point. Think it could be an unnamed height shown as co tour 700 to the north east but the topo doesn't show the extreme height, in my eyes. Could it be Patoneys Crown? (off the photocopy I was using)

Actually I probably answered my own question!

Was their much water around? In rockpools/creeks etc Going by some nearby amateur weather stations there has been a few mm in the last week. I'l be doing a high traverse starting Baal Bone very soon.

Drier than chips, but I didn't go far.

Have been around Wallerawang and the Blueys the last few weeks, some overnight drops and drizzle only.

On FB adventure curated has posted some photos of GoS in the last few days. Seems like they do 4wd touring SO may have covered some ground and have info.

There has been a bit of rain around, but not enough to really saturate the ground. Rock pools should have water for a few days. There's supposed to be a few more mm tonight and tomorrow, but again, it's probably not going to be enough to saturate.
