Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the 1962 Nimmo map. Any thoughts on how a copy might be procured?

Unfortunately, despite the attentions of the ski club, that is precisely all that remains of Constances Hut as it was burnt down sometime between 1983 when Hueneke wrote his book and 1989 when the Burrunggubugge Shelter was built to replace it, only itself to be destroyed in the 2003 fires.

Fascinating stuff. Well maybe to some?

In "The Snowy Mountains A Bushwalkers Diary Published 1990,Greg Powell writes of visiting Constances Hut and meeting a group of Constance family members in Jan 1983 and I quote "A few weeks after our return home NPWS gave a press release which would mean little to most people.To bushwalkers,skiers and especially the Constance family it would mean a great deal.The Press Release simply stated that Constances Hut had been burnt to the ground accidentally.Apparently some hot ashes from the fireplace had rolled under the floorboards.Although both the floor and fire were thoroughly soaked with water,the hut that had stood since the 1930's eventually caught fire.Those people at the hut at the time were,fortunately,unharmed."
