Wingecaribee River Packraft trip

Postby Lizzy » Mon 27 Oct, 2014 5:48 pm

Went for a paddle on the Wingecaribee river from Berrima the other day. Water level was really low (1.05m) but thought we'd have a go anyway. Had to drag through all the Rapids but scenery was lovely. The plan was to paddle to McArthurs Crossing but after Wallaby Rocks we came to a huge log jam. Managed to get through- love the packrafts! 2nd log jam was impenetrable- so we hiked up out of the gorge checked the maps and made the decision to pack up the rafts and headed bush, crossed the highway, back through the bush to the river and then only a short paddle back to the start. The rafts certainly make the trip flexible!!!
Caution to anyone attempting this section of river in higher water- those log jams are nasty.
A little video of the log jam we got through.

Nice work!
Packrafts are so versatile.....and I do like the look of the new boat just released.
