Hannel's Spur

Postby TerryMcC » Sun 16 Mar, 2014 5:02 pm

Hi, does anyone know if Hannel's Spur remains over-grown. I was keen to do it prior to this winter, but reading the previous posts, I have some doubts unless it has been re-cut. Any advice would be grateful. Kind regards, Terry

This may not be all that helpful but I hate to see questions unanswered. I've only looked longingly in that direction from up top and haven't walked it (yet). But maybe give the park HQ in Jindabyne a call? I'd ask for the ranger responsible for that patch rather than the girls at the desk (fine for general enquiries but this likely needs more specialised knowledge). I've made enquiries in the past about walks in other less frequented parts of KNP and found the ranger concerned very helpful and obliging.

There has been a bit of activity on Hannel's over the walking season due to the Search around Townsend. Quite a few groups have used the track so I'd imagine its doable. I'd add to Johnw's thoughts and post the question in the backcountry forum on ski.com.au, as there are some fairly active BC users amongst them.
