McMillan Track - current conditions?

Postby Uncle Rumple » Tue 05 Dec, 2023 11:35 am

Hello - does anyone have any current (ie as of Dec4) knowledge or opinion of what life would be like on the eastern part of this track (from Arbuckle Jn to Cobungra). I’ve got a walk planned there starting Thursday this week but am getting nervous following recent and forecast precipitation

I’m told that the BCWC have a group out there now - if this is correct does anyone know how they are going?

Thks in advance

Contact Bushwalking Victoria. Mr. .Joe Van Beek helped write the guide book for that track and he is known to frequent it .

Thks PCV for the tip which I’ve just seen. We decided not to take any chances with the weather and conditions in Gippsland so did the GOW instead.

Bushwalking Vic. also conducted or ran a supported 14 day trek along McMillan's walking track ( the whole thing) with a 4 WD support crew meeting hikers at a given point at the end of each day. This means you carry only a day pack and your walk becomes slightly easier. This sort of thing has real appeal to me.
