The Big Walk. Mt. Buffalo Nov.5th & 6th 2016

Postby paidal_chalne_vala » Tue 22 Nov, 2016 8:35 pm

I did the big walk at Mt. Buffalo , solo on the first weekend of Nov. and camped at Lake Catani on the Sat. night. Paying $50 per night for a campsite there is as steep as the ascent to the chalet is  .
The weather was mild and clear on the ascent, with clear views of a few snow patches left on Mt. Bogong . It was raining at Breakfast time on Sunday but it cleared up a bit for the walk down. I was shrouded in clouds and mist until I reached Mackey's lookout .
It was a great trip and the detour via Rollason's Falls was worthwhile too.
PV had recently cleared the track of fallen timber too. :-)
I would not wish to do this hike when it is hot or very wet. Photos will appear eventually. They named it right: The Big Walk . I was glad to see the car on Sunday , because I was rogered by the time I had hiked all the way down.
