George Bass coastal walk.

Hi
I did the George bass coastal walk yesterday for the first time in ten years or so. The scenery was superb but the flies were horrific. It was a cow poo = fly apocalypse kind of equation.
We left the car at Punchbowl road car park and walked to Kilcunda and back along the cliff tops and beaches . That is 14 kms in total which is quite easy if you are fit and take some food and at least 3 L. of water . There is no shade so a shady hat with a chin strap and a long sleeved shirt helps keep off the sun and wind. Only a bee keeper's hat with netting would offer any relief from the flies. DEET insect repellant didn't do much at all.
If you need a day out then it is an easy drive to San Remo to do this walk and you can have a nice cooling swim in the sea when you are done and have some refreshments in San Remo before the drive home.
Maybe try it in winter when there are no flies.

Always has been like that in summer. Pity, as it's a lovely relaxing walk along a very nice bit of coastline.

We love this picturesque walk. Our kids call it the "pink house" walk for obvious reasons...
