Article on murder on PNG walking track

warning: contains graphic content.

Last September, a trekking company's guided trip through the wilds of Papua New Guinea was shattered when machete-wielding men attacked the native porters, killing two on the spot and injuring many more. The motive appeared to be robbery, but Carl Hoffman knew something else was at work—ancient tribal patterns of violence that, he knew, would inevitably be avenged.

Tough part of the world up there wayno. It's a place I would like to walk but not with those kind of risks.

I saw the TV program on this incident only a few weeks back (Australian Story on ABC). They were very lucky to have survived. A nasty tribal and territorial related problem. I understand from general reading that it's not too much of an issue on the Kokoda but changes when venturing further afield in PNG.

Not wanting to take away from the grave and sad event but typical annoying journalistic hoo hah prevails.

Waynos link notes that Christie had previously run the Black Cat in 31 hours.
ABC she had walked it previously with her husband.

This is one experienced and tough, fit lady, why do they play it down..........aaarrrghhh!!!
Jeez, thats classic media manure right there.
