I have heard of a hard core bushwalker doing this trip a couple of years back. Does anyone know the route taken

There have been a few recently attempting the 'easier' east of Pedder route and a couple of epics down the west through the pow range etc. There are links for both on the site, here's one thread with a couple of ideas: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=785&start=30&hilit=lake . There was also a topic started by 'ultrarunner' who was trying to run through there, i think he fell over before the real work began?

Yep, after the boring sections of the Pengiun Cradle Trail and the Overland track, he went over the King William Range, down to the Denisons, Rafted across the Gordon, down the Frankland, down the Port Davey, along the South Coast, and out over the Southern Ranges.

http://www.expeditionclass.com/acrosstas/ (check the photo 3/4th down the page, then look in the photo of the year Tasmania Mineral section.. Look familiar???????

Ultra runner got a tick bite and rolled an ankle (or so the rumour goes) along the OT, as Nuts said before the REAL adventure began.
Nothing to see here.

Something I've been wanting to do for years, oh to have the time and money... Think Ossie Ellis may have been the first to do it but I may be wrong, it does happen occasionally :D

I also have a friend who did it a harder way. Did the same thing but instead of boating across the Gordon he went from the King William range over to the POW. 28 days from the Lyell Highway to Melaleuca.

Lol, true... true.

Hmm yeh maybe, ask me again in 10-15 years when my boy is a bit older.... I find it hard to go for 8+ day walks atm, so a 2 month walk might be a bit much.....

In addition to the trips mentioned already, have a look at http://louphi.blogspot.com/2007/08/wild ... eport.html, and the related posts in the aus.bushwalking Usenet group. (Search Google Groups for 'aus.bushwalking louphi').

Quite a tough trip!
