Mt Rufus

Postby Dr Moreau » Wed 02 Sep, 2015 2:11 pm

Hi all, have lurked this forum for a while now and thought I should finally contribute something.

Went up Mt Rufus yesterday to try out some snowshoeing. Crampons and an ice axe might have been more useful on the way up as the snow was frozen on the surface and rock solid, but after a full day of sun had became quite soft and then the snowshoes were very handy.

It was a clear blue sky day and the views of the surrounding snow capped mountains were impressive!

Unfortunately only had my cheap point and shoot camera so the photo quality isn't that great.

Drifts in some places are still building up. The flatter areas around the summit and on top of the eastern ridge lose it fairly quickly.
