My wife and I are heading to Perth for a week in Spring. We will probably hire a car. We are looking for 3 or 4 of the best day was within a days drive of Perth. We would like to sea (sic) some coast, forest and wildflowers. I also love mountains. The more wild the better.

I would appreciate if anyone from or who knows WA has a few recommendations to share.

Thank you.

Hi Beardless,

This is a great website with a whole list of hikes in Perth and surrounds with details and information about the walks and some great photos. I think the author might be a forum member.
For example, these 3 hikes are doable within 1 day of Perth including driving.

When you say "days drive" does that include driving for a day then do a day walk the next day?
If you have the luxury of being able to stay overnight away from Perth, that then that opens up many more options down south where you will find real forests and some peaks.

Im sure some others will reply you with more specific ideas.

Enjoy!

Thanks Kitty. That's a great start. We plan to hire a car so we could drive South to stay for a couple of days.

The southwest corner is an area of great natural beauty with stunning coastal, forest, and pastoral scenery.

Head south through Busselton and Dunsborough. Visit the caves and wineries and the famed surf break at Margaret River. Follow the coast road to Cape Leeuwin. Continue to the tree top walk at the Valley of the Giants near Denmark. Head back inland to the karri forests at Pemberton and climb the Gloucester Tree if you dare.

For wildflowers, the Stirling Ranges are renown for the springtime profusion and diversity of wildflower.

Oops, your time is up already. Never mind, come back again soon.

Thank you RonK. I had read about the spectacular Stirling Ranges Ridge Walk. One day. But it looks like there are day walks with mountains and wildflowers. That is ticking boxes. Then we might follow back to Perth picking up some of the other ideas.

Hi Beardless,

I second Kitty's recommendations for the Numbat Track in Paruna and the Bibbulmun Track to Mt Cooke. For Paruna you'll have to book and pay in advance but it is definitely worth it as it is by far the best walk in the Perth area. I would also add Kitty's Gorge for walks in Perth worth checking out. For the South West, my blog has a Top 10 Day Walks in WA post that might be of interest to you: http://thelongwaysbetter.blogspot.com.a ... stern.html

Our top 3 are all in the Great Southern Region near Albany/Denmark - it really has the best bushwalking in the state. The Nancy Peak Circuit, Toolbrunup Peak and especially the Bald Head Walk Trail should not be missed:
