LAMINGTON off track conditions- black canyon to green mounta

Hi All, just wondering if anyone has gone out to black canyon and returned via shooting creek or morans ck this year. Im suoer keen to get out there very soon but not sure what the state of the canyon and or creeks will.be after cyclone debbie. Ive called the ranger and he doesnt know either!

I did go to the Black Canyon area in late 2017. The side of the river is pretty much overgrown with mist weed and you are well served to contour about it. Someone has put up a bit of pink tape as a pretence of a "track". Progress is slower than on previous occasions, or maybe it is me (first time I went there was in 1982/3) being slower ! The route up Silver Falls (a.ka. Shooting Falls) was very slippery and steep. It has been denuded of vegetation with the major rain events of 2017. I imagine that the Feb 2018 storms would have made it worse. It isn't recommended as an exit route, except for small numbers of experienced walkers.Calculate on at least a solid couple of hours to haul yourself up,if you are carrying a weekend pack.

I was there in April 2018 and the usual route to climb out from Albert River near Silver Falls up to the graded track system was extremely difficult. A gigantic tree fall and landslide had obliterated much of what used to be a visible footpad, which required some very difficult near-vertical scrambling through thick wait-a-while and loose tree roots. It was quite dangerous and arduous, especially with a heavy pack - it took us close to 3 hours from the river up to the graded track.

Although not off track. Just did the Gold Coast Great walk along Border track and such last weekend. There was quite a few land slips we encountered. Some were huge with great amounts of earth moved. Couldnt imagine what off track conditions would be like.

Mainly on the Lower Bellbird section coming from the Binna Burra end
