This is very disappointing news, it is a truly unique and beautiful experience to be able to walk behind the falls. What a shame this will no longer be possible.

A new suspension bridge to be built at a reported cost of 400k however there are many places you can see a waterfall but very few you can actually walk behind one.

Thoughts anyone?

Agreed. Not sure what cost them 400k+ to maintain a few hundred metres of track around and behind the falls, particularly considering it's been closed for over a year?

The twin falls circuit and canyon lookout are more popular than Purlingbrook, and you can still walk behind two of the major waterfalls on that track. Being able to walk behind the falls on these circuits is certainly one of the highlights of going to Springbrook. If they are moving towards replacing these with bridges then it is very sad.

If they want to pour money into the NPs, why not use it to buy more land and expand the NPs rather than choke the existing places with more tourists that don't give a shoot about the bush?

For anyone who is interested, they recently re-opened the full circuit with the new suspension bridge. The track behind the waterfall is now closed.
