Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone has walked the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail? Any info that can be shared?

I"ve walked part of it.
The information on their website is quite good http://www.brisbanevalleyrailtrail.com.au/
The BVRT Community facebook page is also very active and will respond to any questions https://www.facebook.com/BrisbaneValley ... ref=SEARCH

I've walked the Toogoolawa - Esk section as a day walk, and again as part of a weekend walk Toogoolawa - Coominya.
Caught the bus from Ipswitch to Toogoolawah on Friday night, camped beside the old station. Walked Toogoolawa- Esk. Camped overnight in the Esk Caravan Park (can highly recommend, they have pizza ovens in the camp kitchen)
Sunday walked from Esk to Coominya then got picked up by a friend for a lift home.

The trail itself is very well marked. The downloadable sketch maps are certianly all you need.
As for the walking, it's not the most inspiring, as you are walking along the original rail track. So very event gradient, avoiding any hills which are often points of interest while walking. The trail can stay quite close to roads as railways often do.
That said, I did enjoy it. It's a great way to see the Brisbane Valley countryside, the cute little towns that you pass through, and a good way to bash out some high km days.

I'm planning another weekend sometime in the next months to walk Coominya back to Wulkuraka, staying overnight in Fernvale.

Thanks for your response CSpeedy. This is the exact sort of info I was hoping for.
