Burchell Trail - Brisbane Ranges

Postby alanoutgear » Mon 03 May, 2010 10:52 pm

I'm planning on doing the Burchell Trail over three days (2 nights) from Boar Gully to Steiglitz within the next month or so. Can anyone offer advice or information to help me prepare.

I did this walk aproximately 18 months ago and I remember it reasonably well. I also walked in the Boar Gully to Steiglitz direction.
There are many up and down steep sections which are pretty strenuous especially in the Steiglitz area.
One thing I found disapointing was the amount of road walking there is especially along Switch Road in between Little River Camp and Stony Creek Picnic Area.
Little River is a beautiful camping spot - a nice spot to rest after a short first day. There are also plenty of spots for water drops as the track crosses a few main roads as well.
Hope this helps.

There is a new map available for The Brisbane Ranges published by Meridian that shows the realignment of the Burchell Trail.
The trail now finishes at Fridays Picnic ground that has been upgraded to a camping ground.
