On the Lake St Clair ferry?
Thu 26 Mar, 2020 5:35 pm
Yep, Lake St Clair, but when you have your own boat, you can travel when you like.
Over to you

Looks a bit like that region but I'm a long way from there. Not Tarkine, or anywhere on the west coast.

Thanks John
Here's a picture from where I was planning to revisit this weekend before the park closures came into effect. Where is it?
Sorry for the poor image quality

Russell Falls Creek?
Sat 28 Mar, 2020 9:55 am
Not Russell Falls Creek. I'm out west, but not in the Tarkine.

I've seen many similar places in Tasmania but it reminds me a little of the Bird River track.

The Bird River it is!

Good enough WFBW. Heading south just past Lake Youd and started seeing these masses of flowering scoparia. All yours.

I was about to say Cuvier Shelf, but the angles aren't right. I think Coal Hill fits better.

Yep From the southern west end of Coal Hill.
Over to you Pazzar.

This was on day one of what ended up being an 8 day trip to bag an Abel that I missed on my first visit.
Mon 30 Mar, 2020 12:25 pm
There aren't many places where you would need eight days to bag an Abel. Eldon Range seems most likely, and that does look a lot like the area where you run out of easier ground and have to start thinking seriously about rock-hopping, Whilst on the way up Eldon Peak from Burbury.
Mon 30 Mar, 2020 12:28 pm
Yep thats it. This is on the just on a flat spot of the ridge before the vegetation starts to thin out and the pad disappears.
Mon 30 Mar, 2020 1:22 pm
Thanks. Needed the clues for that.
I also (re)climbned an Abel during this relaxing little ramble, although I'm not yet on it. Where Is I?

I should point out - I wouldn't have needed 8 days if it weren't for the 3 days stuck in a tent!
Are you on the Ironstone plateau?
Mon 30 Mar, 2020 5:22 pm
No, but I can see Ironstone from here.
