Re: GAME: Where am I?

Looks like one of the tracks going off Mt Read

EDIT
I don't think there's an ultra go there... Was stretching the memory of the area anyway

I think it is highly likely john is right - on the Knife Edge heading up towards Myhill Lookout with Millicent Valley running on the RHS of the road. Google Satellite has all the vegetation in the right places.

pazzar seems to have gone missing. As eggs is usually correct, in the interest of keeping the game moving I'll take a risk and post.
One for the peakbaggers

Is this on The Nut at Stanley? I was there a few weeks ago but I can't remember if the trig had a platform near it or not.

Thank you Tortoise. I was going to say that but didn't want it going to his head .

It certainly is Graham. Not exactly the biggest or hardest climb but still worth going up. I took this around 2009 and haven't visited it since, so quite possible there have been changes.

Thanks, John. It was wet and cold when I went up (surprisingly the first and only time I have done that walk) so I didn't take it all in as well as I could have.

This is from a few years ago (14, I think) and the track has changed a bit. What track?

It just isn't the same without those lovely rough old bridges. Although the new ones are better platforms for photography.

To start narrowing it down - somewhere in the Southern Ranges??

Not the Southern Ranges. Not anywhere near the Southern Ranges.

Dolerite and pines so probably on Central Plateau. Mersey Crag?

Closer. You can see Mersey Crag from here. It might even be in the photo...

There are a few bluffs, crags etc in the picture when you blow it up but I don.t recognise any of them. I guess recognising those slabs of rock that are lying around might be the key.
Mt Moriah?

Great Pine Tier?

Mersey Crag is definitely in view. [And Turrana Bluff]
It appears to be from an unnamed high spot between Daisy Lakes and Lake Thor.
probably around the 1340 - 1360m contours
The rock surface has a curious appearance with its flat slabs.

Sure does! Chemical weathering on display here. Pretty keen to know exactly where this is now!

Yes, those rock slabs are unusual and distinctive and why I chose this shot. You're in the general area, but this is on something with a name that has not yet been mentioned. I'm not far from the high point, just a few hundred metres at most to the east. A place that merits exploration.

If you mean Ophel, yep. Really interesting bit of the Walls that too few people bother with.

Yes, I guess I do mean Ophel. I have been over it once but that would have been over 20 years ago.
