Somewhere around the mid point of the Traveller Range, looking SW?
Tue 11 Jun, 2019 5:33 pm
Not on the Traveller.
Tue 11 Jun, 2019 10:12 pm
Close to Grail Falls?
Tue 11 Jun, 2019 10:48 pm
Wonderful photo. Would it be the top of Meander Falls?
Wed 12 Jun, 2019 8:21 am
So far eggs is closest, but it isn't Meander Falls. The water running through that gully - more of a canyon, really - does have a name.

Having trouble with the peak at the back.
If it is Cummings Head you might be looking down Sales Rivulet.
Scrub that - I have found the dead tree on List - Aerial Photo - so try Dunning Rivulet

That's the one. Stunning place with half the water frozen. It's fun making you work for this.

The dead tree is that washed down tree in the creekbed.
Things like that can be very distinctive when you zoom in enough on the List or Google Earth.
The change of rock colour was also distinctive.
My question is where were you coming from and going to?
It looks like it could be a good wander from Pine Lake along that northern edge of the plateau to Ironstone?
Next one is a tourist shot

Up Warners track, over Adam, along the cliffs to Sales Rivulet, up Wild Dog and back mostly along the ridge. Covered most of the rest of the cliff line up there and been wanting to explore that area for a while. It's a bit different but really good walking except one horrible scrubby saddle.

Is that Lake Lea from the Belvoir Lookout? Lake seems the wrong shape but I can't get the idea out of my mind.
Wed 12 Jun, 2019 7:48 pm
Yes. This is from Belvoir Lookout.

Well. I didn't expect that to be right. Next one.

I've broken it again...
The most prominent landmark in that shot has a namesake or two elsewhere in state.
Thu 13 Jun, 2019 7:40 pm
Are you asking for Arthur?
edit- Oops didn't see the nasty background.
Fri 14 Jun, 2019 8:55 am
No, this isn't named after a person. What I'm looking at is rather shapely.
What's nasty about that background? Iit's just a bit of smoke. OK, it's a lot of smoke, but a fair distance off.
Fri 14 Jun, 2019 10:44 am
I'm still struggling to pluck shapely, repeated, non-person names from the air. Are we in the SW?
Fri 14 Jun, 2019 10:56 am
No, we are not. West of the centreline, most definitely, but not south of the Lyell Hway. Plus, I've done a bit of an eggs here and used some telephoto.
And once you've worked out what we're looking at, where I was should be easy.
Fri 14 Jun, 2019 12:11 pm
My guess is from Eldon Peak, Pelions far in the smog - Nereus on the right, Dome Hill the main feature.
Fri 14 Jun, 2019 12:38 pm
And we have a winner. Yes, that's it. Weetbix is obviously the breakfast of not only champions, but great bushwalkers.

Nice to be back in the game momentarily
Mega zoom on that one NNW.
Hopefully an easy one...

Cuvier. looking over Coal Hill to Cheyne Range and Gell, with Goulds Sugarloaf on the right?
Sat 15 Jun, 2019 12:08 pm
Kinda! But you can have it. It’s from Coal Hill itself
Sat 15 Jun, 2019 6:22 pm
I have exactly the same shot from the top of Cuvier. Vegetation and rocks included. Coal Hill is definitely below.
Sun 16 Jun, 2019 7:29 am
We can argue about that later. Sorry for the break yesterday but I was Dark Mofoing. Next:

This is a beautiful spot. Could it be Olive Lagoon?
Sun 16 Jun, 2019 11:34 am
It is beautiful but it's not so far off the beaten track as Olive. I'd expect the fishingpeoples to get this one.
Sun 16 Jun, 2019 9:49 pm
Whoops! You guys are fully correct. I took another photo a bit later in the trip from atop Coal Hill that has Gould’s SL zoomed with a very similar aspect - but yep that is indeed from Cuvier
Mon 17 Jun, 2019 7:52 am
The fishermen must be too busy tying flies getting ready for the upcoming season.
How about Talinah Lagoon?
Mon 17 Jun, 2019 8:12 am
Even Talinah is further from the teeming hordes than this. At least "Lagoon" is right.
