And NNW, the secret to Murchison is to head up there late in the day as the cloud usually hangs about to 10:30/11am (though 4 from 4 may be just bad luck). If you need to start early, you could always walk the long way round via Lake Sandra!

As for Bobs, I'd love to get up there but having moved from Hobart to Penguin, probably not likely anytime soon. Might have to save it for a walk to vanishing falls one day.

Pity about that. Bobs is lovely, the Boomerang is also well worth the mud you have to squelch through to get to Sydney, and there's some brilliant camping up on or near the saddle between the two. Or on top if the weather's good enough. Plenty of water on Bobs.

Reminds me of heading towards Federation Peak immediately after leaving Bechervaise Plateau, but that was a long time ago, and I can't remember it that clearly, and never saw it without mist and rain (both times). It could be just about anywhere where there's similar rock - not a lot to go on there.

Pretty close, Tas. I'm south of the bluff on the Blue Peaks track. Was up there yesterday on the most perfect walking day - sunny,cool, no wind. Some snow still around but not much, however it was very wet underfoot. Here's another shot from just nearby.....then over to you....
