I'm taking that as a win then?

If that's the view with your back towards Everest then I am in for a treat early next year indeed.

This ones back in Britain.

A treat indeed. We did a trek to Everest Base Camp and then went via Cho La to Gokyo. We climbed Gokyo Ri to see the sun rise over Everest then trekked back to Lukla. The only real problem we had was getting to Lukla from Kathmandu due to weather and we ended up taking a helicopter up to there. Extra expense but it was worth it.

Sorry John but not Wastwater this time. My son in law told me he'd take me to a very special "lake" but sadly we wandered aimlessly around this one for a while till the penny dropped that wasn't it! Mercifully the correct "Lake" was right next door.

Yes indeed it is. My Son In law is still living this down. "C'mon old timer lets go walk around Buttermere-it's very special" After about 40 minutes he fessed up that this was indeed Crummock water and some 1 km away lay our actual destination. Admittedly if all SNAFU's were this nice I'd not complain.

Thanks Greg. I visited the Lakes District very briefly in the early 90s. I think we were only there for lunch and a quick look around. I'd love to return and hike all those picturesque lakes and fells.

Let's go to New Zealand:

Completely off topic - What does the cloud on the right remind you of? (and it isn't a clue)

The cloud reminds me absolutely nothing- you need to go back to work asap.

I'll say Mt Cook just to get something happening here..

Yes I now probably have too much time on my hands :). It looks like an eagle or some other type of bird in flight.

Mt Cook is very close by.

Mt Cook was close, maybe 10 km or so from here.

Mt. Olliver (two l's) is about 15km from Mt. Cook. It's a popular destination and was also the first mountain Edmund Hillary climbed. But wrong.

Ah, now we are getting closer. Apart from me needing to do more reading on Sir Ed, spelling is everything :). That one is actually Mt Ollivier (almost the same as the late Sir Laurence). Which explains why my searches of NZ Topo didn't find it, even with two l's - needed two i's as well. Now I've located it, and it's only about 5 km from the feature in question. Probably would have known it if I'd done the Mueller Hut walk.

To get that view you would have to be in the air. Looks too low for a commercial jet. Did you do a chopper flight?
