Still NSW. Name the peak I'm heading to (background left).
Bonus point if you name the one I'm descending.

Yes, good enough GBW. I am heading for Rams Head which is the answer I was looking for.
I'm descending the Southerly Rams Head (unofficlal name). South Rams Head is about 1 km down the ridge behind me.

Very nice spot out on that ridgeline.

Name this awesome skyline traverse in Victoria

Another Victorian ridge route. Too easy, I expect, so a bone-arse point for identifying the general locality from where the photograph was taken.

This was a copy-cat choice of image by me, following the one eggs posted. Mine is east of Ararat rather than west of that town, as Stapylton is.

I presume its Langi Ghiran, but I don't think I have any snaps despite passing it fairly often.
My map suggest it could be from out Dobie way [Geelong Road, Gorrin Creek..]

Eggs, that presumption is spot on.

But I was a fair way from Dobie. Cannot say how far, but can say that it was about half-an-hour from Ararat, on the Melbourne-Adelaide train (The Overlander). Hence it's far enough to the SSE of the Western Highway to see the full ridgeline, incorporating Mt Buangor, Camp Hill, etc. This section of the rail journey goes via Geelong. Car is quicker (usually), but train is more scenic, relaxing, etc.

Thanks eggs, yes I spotted them in the enlarged image. Were you kayaking also?

What diminutive stream am I visiting in NSW, which unfortunately now appears impacted by a major wildfire:

I was on the walk way bridge, and my damaged spine would make kayaking a risky proposition.
The ones in view had a couple who were capsized on their run through.

Sorry to hear that Brian, yes it looks very churned up.
Personal limit is occasional class 1 or 2 flat water in my flimsy UL packraft.

Tyreless wrote:I'll have a punt and say it's the lower Grose River.

Looks similar but this is more than 60 km from the lower Grose.
