That's what I thought. Not right out on Dorado but on/near the track where you start heading across to the Peak.

Yes - this is from Stuart Saddle - the moor in view is Goon Moor, and the cloud is almost encasing Federation Peak - but its top is just poking through.

Either Falling Mountain or the Acropolis, going on the angles to the major peaks. I think . . . although it could be from a number of points on the DuCane traverse.

eidt: No, if it's not Falling Mountain I think it would have to be from the Cathedral Plateau. Too much of a gap between Byron, Cuvier and Manfred for the DuCanes.

I don't think you would see all of these mountains and the lake from Windy Ridge. This is an elevated location quite close to the last mountain on the right of the picture.

No, I didn't think you would either. And you certainly wouldn't have that sort of foreground.

Ahhhh, now I recall - you went into the DuCanes over Gould, didn't you? Which puts you very near my campsite on the Gould Plateau.

That's it. We had just staggered onto the plateau on those really hot days in February. The tarns on Guardians and The Labyrinth were welcome for a swim.
