Cleft Peak from Cobberas One, or maybe even from Middle, depending on the zoom . . .

Yes, north-north-west, from Cobberas No. 1, plus The Pilot and the distant Snowy Mountains.

My camera & favourite lens died up there, after the clip on the bag strap broke . . . ohhh, the memories . . .

OK, name the ACT peak in view:

On the far horizon .... Tidbinbilla Peak? Although the summit of Kelly (from some locations) looks like a peak.

You're in the right area by mentioning Kelly - which I climbed the previous day - but otherwise no.

I named Tidbinbilla Peak on the far horizon. You didn't say which peak.

The mountain closest, in your shot, I didn't name, I just mentioned that Mount Kelly from some locations is peak like.

Warren.

Ok then, to specify, name the nearest peak in view. Is that sufficiently precise for you?

I gave you an answer. Thank you for changing the goal posts.

Warren.

In that case - looking at the maps, no the peak in the distance isn't Tidbinbilla. So can we now concentrate on the nearer of the two?

I hate it when mum and dad fight...

Are you looking at Namadgi from Burbury?

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Sun 01 Feb, 2015 7:00 pm

Please, I have more sense and taste than that.

Yes, Namadgi it is, from Burbidge. Take it away, fatso.

You are on Ironpot Mountain in the vicinity of the aboriginal grinding grooves.

Yep, just near the ironmonger spur track junction. All yours.

Thanks. Sorry Mister G, I recognised that one as soon as I saw it :).

What am I descending to in NSW?

Guthega

Yep, Guthega Dam specifically. Coming down from Mt Tate/Tate East Ridge. Your turn.

Well, it's a canyon, but it doesn't look like sandstone. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Reedy Creek Gorge in Deua...

Yep sure is. I figured once the Blue Mtns were ruled out it'd just be a process of elimination (for those that haven't been there, otherwise it's pretty recognizable)... but you guessed it straight away :) Over to you.

Thanks, I had a fair few photos from when we were there and some looked like they matched.

Next one should be an easy one - from NSW. Where are we?

:) Shooting fish in a barrel, but I'll wait to see if anyone else would like to answer this splendid view.

I don't believe you have Tom. I think icefest is just generally referring to it having been posted previously (looks like twice, and both times by me ). In any case I don't believe the rules say that the same location can't appear more than once. And I'm finding it difficult to come up with previously unseen locations. Either I need to find different places to walk, or stop playing.

I mean you've posted it in your blog (which I've read) so I feel dishonest saying where it is. :D

Ah, well, unfortunately almost every photo that I have easy access to is on my website. Occasionally I get a trip where I haven't yet put it up and can post a Where-Am-I. But most of the time I'm stuck.

Though I'm impressed you remember it ... I thought I was safer going with something from a while ago!

Well to close this discussion - I will say the picture is of Splendour Rock in the Wild Dog Mts.

It is definitely Splendour Rock, which does live up to its name with its views of the High Gangerangs. Over to you Dave
