Skiing Mt Rufus!

Postby Markus » Wed 13 Aug, 2008 1:12 pm

I did a quick search and came up with nothing on this topic. With the recent snow and more expected until friday, i'am seriously considering walking up rufus and skiing out to the highway. Just wanted to know if anyone on here has done it this year or even in previous years?
Let me know, Cheers Markus :D

Hi, I reckon the best way to ski Rufus is to go up the mountain from the Rufus Canal road and walk up via the Joe Slater hut and continue up to the Gingerbread Hut just under the summit. I reckon it's easier than climbing up from Cynthia Bay.
There used to be a weekly snow check up there by Parks.it might pay to give them a bell and check this and the other above info;out.
Cheers

Yeah that is an option, i have skins for the skis so as long as there is enough snow it should be no problem. Now just have to wait for some good weather.
