King William1 or Rufus

Gday all. well after attempting Cradle mt summit on Saturday and getting mighty close til the snow and ice forced me to turn back, i have the urge to achieve a summit this saturday. i will only have 1 day available and was wondering which peak would ye all reccommend. also if snow on mountains, which is easier / safer in these conditions. any advice would be much apprieciated, thankyou.

I can't speak for Willy I, but I've done Rufus in a mini blizzard and survived. Even managed the circuit trip, although there were very deep drifts in the narrow valley with the creek.

Rufus would be easier in snow. KW is on a very good track but there are a couple of sharp sections, I know many people who have done it with snow, and while I'd imagine it would be very easy in any condition, Rufus is an absolute walk in the park.

I think kw 1 is going to be a bit quicker, most of it is on the fire trail, only the last few hundred metres are track. Rufus is more exposed for longer, the ridge line to the summit is quite tedious in the fog. Rufus has arguably better views.
