8ish k one night hikes

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for around around 8k one nighters (preferably in the south). Trying to build the kids up to longer hikes but at the moment South Cape Bay seems a distance where I don't get too many complaints. Had hoped to push on to the rivulet last weekend but it didn't work out. Have done Fortescue to Bivouac Bay. Thinking of Freycinet and just crossing the isthmus instead of going over Mt Graham and camping at either Hazards Beach or Wineglass Bay. Anyone know of any others?

Timbs track out to Ewes Inn hut and the Florentine river (on the old Adamsfield track), it's all fairly flat out there, about 5km each way... If you want to make it a bit longer you can wander along the Adamsfield track either way, lovely old mossy forests.... There's a few things to see out there around the Florentine river, the old flying fox, old hydro weather station, the remains of the bridge, and such...

Mt Field? Track out towards Field East and find somewhere to camp along the way. Lake Webster from Fenton and loop back on the other track.

Not in the south, but in the middle of the State, two ‘introductory’ options you may like to consider are (1) Shadow Lake from Lake St Clair or (2) King William 1. Both are relatively short walks to camp, but importantly have options for add ons depending on how the kids feel.
For (1) - do a circuit walk to Shadow Lake from Lake St Clair going via the Rufus track and return via Shadow Lake Track. Once at Shadow Lake you can walk to Forgotten Lake and if the kids are feeling up to it, walk/scramble to Little Hugel, and if they still have lots of energy you can explore between Little Hugel and the tarn below Mt Hugel. On return trip, if they are feeling up to it, you have the option of going via Mt Rufus (much longer) or back via Shadow Lake Track.
For (2) - King William 1 could be a bit of a steep, but short, slog for kids. However, once up and over there are heaps of nice camping options, lots of places to explore and the option to climb Milligans Peak and others depending on how the kids feel.

Shadow Lake would be a favourite. ( My 56 yo grand-daughter went there last weekend, as well as up Little Hugel and Rufus.) Also Lake Judd now the track is improved. Also Cape Pillar, camping at Bare Knoll - they did a three day trip there, walking to the end of the track. Wineglass, Hazards and Cooks Beaches depending on water situation. Depending on how old the kids are, Arm River to Lake Ayr.

Thanks Graham. Youngest is 7 so these sound like good options. Two Shadow Lake suggestions now so I'll make that a high priority

A couple of walks that may be a good option in cool/bad weather when the kids may not be happy in a tent, Sandy Lake Hut at Lake Mackenzie, and Hills Logging Hut up Parsons Rd/Track south of Mole Creek, they're both quite short walks but there's other walks you can do from them, and they're both very nice clean comfortable renovated huts with bunks, tables, and wood fires, you'd probably only use the fires if it's real cold though...
