transport via Lyell Highway Strahan to Hobart

Postby farefam » Thu 26 Sep, 2019 5:16 pm

Just noticed that Tassielink don't seem to be running a bus service along the Lyell Highway anymore, which was a surprise as I've used them many times.

For planning future trips to access Frenchmans Cap or to packraft the Franklin and return from Strahan is anyone still running a bus service from Hobart to those locations.

With Tasmania's increasing popularity as a travel destination it is puzzling that bushwalker transport is so limited, compared to be back in the 90's when walking was less popular and visitor numbers were smaller.

Thanks everyone. At least it looks like you can get through from Strahan to Hobart via Lyell Highway with a reasonably short delay in Queenstown to change bus operators (rather than being one service). That is a relief, even if it is only operating a couple of times a week.
