Walls Weather Forecast

Postby monte » Tue 08 Jan, 2019 11:08 am

Looking on the BOM site the overland track forecast seems to be the closest to the walls. Any other suggestions? Does anyone know if it generally expected to be drier/wetter/colder etc?

Monte I can't offer suggestions, but add (from many trips) the weather looking into the reserve from Walls area can be very daggy and miserable looking over yonder, whilst enjoying reasonable, fine, even nice weather in the Walls.
No theories, but wonder if the Mersey and Cathedral range has some influence.
Sorry, can't be much more help.
Just remember though the ground starts at around 1200 metres and rises from that. And that altitude can usher in anything.

Also come home many times from Walls to Sheffield and the weather has been adverse at home whilst enjoying good weather up there.

This is Tasmania :P

I believe I used the Liawenee forecast last time I went it there but I'm not sure if it would be any better. We were coming in from Lake Ada so it made more sense to check that. There is also a webcam at Lake Augusta https://anglersalliance.org.au/web-cams ... ta-webcam/
That looks like a pad.

Thanks. It looks nice up there today based on the webcam! Our group going up there are all inexperienced and we have set dates so the plan is to just kill it and go coastal (either Freycinet circuit or the free capes out of Fortescue Bay) if the weather isn't looking helpful.

I've been using this site for the last year or 2 and have found it very accurate (much more than the BOM which is now totally unreliable) and packed with lots of good features and info. You can click on most of the prominent mountains in the state for a detailed prediction.
