Near the finish line today. I walked down to the open part of Blowhole Valley to meet him.

He's got some great stories, and absolutely wonderful GoPro footage to share in the future.

The ABC were wonderful to allow the crew to come down all that way from Hobart, and they got far more of an interview that will ever get to air! Look out for Georgie Burgess' stories across all platforms on Tuesday.

Great portrait thanks Nick and thanks for the ABC link MikeB.

A favour from the tech savvy members please? Lou-Phi has asked me to record this evening’s ABC TV News article, but I have no idea how to do that. If anyone has the skills and equipment to do so, could you please record it for Lou-Phi? Then maybe DropBox it to LP direct or to me to forward to him. I can supply the Dropbox space if that’s convenient. TIA! John

Hey mate. I can sort that side of things no drama. Probably some rushes too. I was surprised how talkative he was. Phil was a classic with the chocolate interception!!

Congratulations on completing your crazy expedition Lou Phi, it is quite a phenomenal achievement. Bravo :D
Well done to Nick and Phil for taking time out to welcome him to the finish line at Cockle Creek and donating food and clothes.
Somehow I don't think this will be the last we see of Lou Phi down here in Tasmania!?

So he would need a pre-emptive permit for that go-pro footage to be used in promotion. I support the commercial permit system, it adds rational / represents unheralded logic. As much as footage would be satisfying, believe this is important still.

Kinda quiet without LouPhi around :(
I was hoping he would leave his InReach on so I could track his bus ride back to Launnie :) :)

The rules he made to set the record were that he must not be not be resupplied with any food or gas, not use any roads, and only sleep in his tent.

Errr ... what road did he use NNW? You'll have to remind me, because I only remember him crossing them?

Does not the Penguin Trail use a number of road sections?

No idea, it's the one section of the route I'm least familiar with.

There's a good bit of public roads and MVOs on the PCT. Plus he walked from the top of McPartlans, over the bridge and down to the boat ramp on the Gordon River Rd (which is possibly a bit picky, but if he's claiming no road walking then anything other than unavoidable crossings are an issue).

If you start at Penguin Beach, you need some roads to the official start at the Montgomery carpark. Then there's about 11kms of roads iirc at Gunns Plains to Dobsons Flats - Lowana Rd etc. I certainly wouldn't begrudge him the use of those when it's the official route, and there is no other apart from jumping fences through private paddocks! But he probably should word it a little differently to tick technical boxes.

But the sentence you're quoting is written by the journalist and she isn't quoting the walker.

So, may I quote you? Errrr . . . ?

Just saw Georgie’s report on ABC National News - good stuff, using lots of Louphi’s GoPro footage. Look like he really enjoyed the food Phil and Nick brought down!

Was a great honour today to give our friendly and adventurous Belgian, LouPhi, transport from Hobart up to Launceston. He had a few interviews this morning before we departed and the Belgian press is getting very excited. He is in great spirits and very talkative! Saw some of his footage and it was awesome! He had some great tales and I look forward to his future publications of his adventures. Keep an eye out for him in the press (already been on ABC and Southern Cross news tonight) and hopefully he'll appear on Sunrise in coming days! Bravo LouPhi!

Long time lurker on here, but must say a big thank you to Lou-Phi and all on BWA that have contributed to this thread. I used to do a bit of bush walking but after falling off the roof of a building some years ago i am unable to walk any distance anymore. I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to follow this trip on here as well as the in-reach site. Well done Lou-Phi on an epic journey and displaying the spirit of the true adventurer lives on, cant wait for the book.
Thanks for sharing it with us

Yep. And they're still referring to it as unresupplied and unsupported too, with LouPhi declaring it a "world record" in that regard.

I guess we're all being expected to overlooked these little details.
