February Bug Pressure

Sat 26 Jan, 2019 1:18 am

I'll be walking the Overland Track February 13th-18th.

What can I expect the bug pressure to be like of a night on the OT at this time of year?

I'm deciding between bringing the inner net for my shelter or just going with the fly and a ground sheet to save weight.

According to my husband (former guide on the OLT) insects are a problem mainly at dusk and dawn when you are sitting around trying to prepare food, eat, etc. They tend to settle down as it gets properly dark or light. He has used a fly and groundsheet combo with a mozzie net to cover his face. He reckons that worked ok.
