where to spend the night before commencing hike

We are hiking in December and want to spend the night before in Cradle Mountain. Where does anyone suggest, everywhere I can find is so expensive!

Waldheim cabins?
4 berth is $95 a night. If you can get one of course.

Have you looked into geting a cabin or camping site at (Big 4) Discovery Parks?

I've stayed in the bunk rooms - they were reasonably priced.
