Has anyone taken the Forth Valley track into Pelion? If so, how is the access road, and what is the track like?

Cheers!

From Lemonthyme PS you have a rough 20km 4wd track up to the major wash out then past the Wolfram mine and onwards and upwards and upwards and over and upwards and over etc ,finally arrive at Douglas creek at Old Pelion hut you will find the bridge condemned so up stream towards Lake Ayr and cross Douglas creek at the new bridge and on to New Pelion Hut and campgrounds.
If you are mad keen and a tad "masochistic" go ahead but it is not a trip I would do now as the track has no maintenance and lots of fallen timber it is easy to follow however :)

I walked out past Old Pelion and over the river on the old poled route recently. Only went as far as the drop into the edge of the Forth Valley. Found that section to be very good going. quite a remote feel to it. Perhaps from there on all the fallen timber becomes a problem?
