Chain on Hanson's Peak?

Hi all,
I heard a few years back that the chain on Hanson's Peak was removed... is this still the case or has it been replaced (I haven't done that part of the Overland since 2008)?
I will be doing the track S to N this September with a finish at Scott Kilvert and would like to come down via Hanson's if this route is still viable.
Any advice appreciated,

As of January this year the chain was there.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know how long or why it was taken down in the first place?

I think - but don't quote me on this - there was damage due to usage over the years and it was taken down as being unreliable. And then the rangers had a collecting jar at the visitors centre to get the money for the new one.
